Classical or Music Theatre Vocal training for all ages
It's great to teach a variety of students both privately and at college, who all have different aims. Some of them are training for the profession, while others are just learning to sing for enjoyment. We look at a holistic approach to singing, using the whole body as our instrument. Vocal exercises are advised to suit each individual student's needs. Drama and movement are strongly encouraged to enhance singing technique and Alexander technique is encouraged for those students who need better posture when singing.
As a performer, I am equally at home with Classical techniques such as bel canto and Music Theatre techniques such as Estill and attend many courses to develop my knowledge of teaching voice . Examining Music also helps me prepare my students for GCSE, A level and other practical Music Exams. In my spare time, I play the piano for a variety of jazz and pop bands and can use this experience to help students who wish to pursue popular music.
The Heald Music Group provides singing, piano and keyboard lessons. Also availiable are Music Theatre classes and a Vocal Harmony group for adults and children, beginners to advanced.
Past students have gone on to study Performance at Italia Conti's, Mountview Academy,East 15, Trinity College of Music, The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, The University of Greenwich, The Central School of Speech and Drama and at Bird College to gain degree courses. Many students have also gained distinctions in Singing and Music Theatre examinations, acted in films and taken part in West End musicals. Two students have been finalists in the Bexley Young Musician of the Year and my student won the Dartford Young Musician of the Year last year. Fingers crossed for a student of mine student who is currently in the semi final round of a BBC talent competition.
